Watermedia on Paper and Canvas
“The simple but stunning images of the marsh have burned a visual template in my artist’s soul. I never tire of looking at the beauty of the wetlands. I could paint them for the rest of my life. Knowledge of the importance of the wetlands has enhanced my work. I hope to share this invaluable source of South Carolina’s environment with you.”
Painting the impressive South Carolina wetlands reminds me of not only the beauty, but also the fragility of our coast and the balance of nature.
The Wisdom of the Wetlands is key in keeping our coastal landscape healthy. The ever changing Spartina or Sporabolus grass works hard to filter our waters and to hold intact our marshes that protect our ecosystem.
I invite you to learn more about the Wisdom of the Wetlands with the inclusion of brief environmental videos from Charleston Outdoor Adventure with my paintings.

Neshama Breath of Life Watercolors
In Genesis we are told that God breathed the breath of life into Adam. Neshama is the Hebrew word that means life breath. The letters for breath correspond to aspects of the human soul. When we simply notice our breath it returns us to the present moment.
It is a miracle that our breath enters and departs and reenters without our control. Life is bestowed upon us in every moment.
These watercolors try to depict the flow of breath and the richness of being in the moment.
Each Autumn, near the Jewish High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, I paint a series of watercolors. Painting these watercolors helps me to become more present, be more grateful, to let go and go with the flow.

Awe is continual radical amazement….
The big wonders, and the simple everyday stuff.
I am in awe of the fragile world we live in. When Awe- struck we feel both smaller and larger. Awe has the power to shrink our egos, our sense of our own importance.
Painting the inconceivable…Impossible. But painting brings me the feeling of vigor, spirituality, and connection…. like I am swimming in the sea of AWE!
My Rabbi told me that Awe is the connective tissue between us and GOD.
Thou Shall AWE!

HAMSA Watercolor Blessings
These colorful paintings are Hamsas which is a Middle Eastern Symbol of Good Luck and Happiness and to protect against the “evil eye.”
Scholars believe that the Hamsa predates Judism and Islam.
My Hamsas paintings include a personal blessing for the owner of each painting.

contemporary abstract waterscapes on canvas and paper
Blue is the universal favorite color! My new abstract paintings are inspired by being surrounded by blue water and blue sky. Being a painter of South Carolina waterscapes gives me a chance to experiment with more than 50 different shades of blue. The color blue is soothing and peaceful. When using a palette of blues I find that it flows on paper and canvas. Big bold Blue strokes or watery Blue washes floating on the canvas can bring a sense of calm or movement into the room. My hope is that these paintings will transport you to a place that you would like to be.

Summer means Beach. I grew up on the beach with my first cousins, my first surfboard ride, my first car, my first job, my first kiss and lots of first summer sunburns.
Water, Sand and Sky can fill canvas after canvas. There is nothing like the heat of Southern Summers to burn memory and image.
