Neshama Breath of Life Watercolors
In Genesis we are told that God breathed the breath of life into Adam. Neshama is the Hebrew word that means life breath. The letters for breath correspond to aspects of the human soul. When we simply notice our breath it returns us to the present moment.
It is a miracle that our breath enters and departs and reenters without our control. Life is bestowed upon us in every moment.
These watercolors try to depict the flow of breath and the richness of being in the moment.
Each Autumn, near the Jewish High Holy Days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, I paint a series of watercolors. Painting these watercolors helps me to become more present, be more grateful, to let go and go with the flow.
